Llama manure "beans" are naturally air dried, and grass, rocks, dirt, etc. have been sifted out, so you get only pure, natural beans in the package. The beans break down slowly giving a longer nutrient release for your plants. Llama manure is one of the few animal manures that can can be applied directly to the soil around plants without fear of burning them. It should be mixed into the soil well. Do not apply directly to seedlings.
Compared to other barnyard animal manures, the nitrogen and potassium content is comparatively high, while phosphorous is relatively low (like most other livestock manures, but still higher than most). The N-P-K is in the range of 1.7-0.69-0.66.
Advantages include:
- Almost no smell ideal for indoor plants)
- Rich in Nitrogen, Phosphorous, and Potassium when compared to other barnyard animals
- Will not burn your plants
- Improves water holding properties of soil
- Improves soil to provide aeration
In potting soil use one part "llama beans" to four parts potting soil.
Make a "tea" by putting 2 cups of beans in one gallon of water and let sit a day or so until the water turns a rich brown. Then water plants as usual with the tea.
